Farm Bureau Women
SLO County Farm Bureau Women
The San Luis Obispo County Farm Bureau Women is the only remaining active chapter of its kind in California, originating in 1923 to advocate for agriculture, improve nutrition, and support the community. This group of dedicated, agriculture-focused women raises funds for scholarships and promotes local farm values through events like the Mid-State Fair and Three Speckled Hens antique shows.
Mission: They focus on promoting agriculture, supporting local farmers, and providing educational scholarships for students pursuing agricultural careers.
Activities: Farm Bureau Women Members raise funds by selling bean soup mix and cookbooks, and hosting booths at events, notably the Three Speckled Hens antique show and the California Mid-State Fair.
Want to Learn More and Get Involved? San Luis Obispo Farm Bureau Women meet every second Monday of the month from September through June. If you’re inspired by these stories and would like to learn more about becoming involved, contact Susan Sonne at (805) 610-1375 or shortsuecakes@gmail.com
