The Great AGventure
The Great AGventure is an educational field trip where fourth grade children throughout San Luis Obispo County have an opportunity to explore the industry that produces our food, fiber and flowers.
The 2003-2007 programs, held at the Paso Robles Event Center provided over 6200 students, their teachers and parent chaperones with six different presentations, covering subjects such as, farm machinery, animals, plants, science and many activities.
Each year, over fifty volunteers involved in agriculture provide the demonstrations, bringing their expertise directly to the students. Presentations are as interactive as possible, encouraging students to experience agriculture in a dynamic way.

Because of sponsors like you, the Great AGventure is offered to schools throughout San Luis Obispo County free of charge. The majority of the program’s expense is used for round trip transportation. Apple Grafting - Sit in on inter-active presentations covering apple grafting, pygora goats and vegetable growing. |

Horsepower - Watch how children first learn about the physics of horsepower and then generate their own! |
 |
Pumpkins - Kids discover the art and science of growing giant pumpkins! Students are taught how to calculate water horsepower, later lifting water in a ten foot column using a stationary bike as a pump. |

Working Dogs - An arena presentation demonstrates the value of a working cow dog. Wool is spun to show kids useful products that come from sheep. Kids set up a fertilizer trial designed to take back to their classroom to record their results. |
