The Great AGventure
Sponsored by the Harold J. Miossi Charitable Trust
The Great AGventure is an educational field trip where more than 1,300 fourth-grade children throughout San Luis Obispo County have an opportunity to explore the industry that produces our food, fiber and flowers.
The 2003-2011 programs, held at the Paso Robles Event Center, provided more than 11,300 students, their teachers and parent chaperones with six different presentations that include an arena event, farm machinery, animals, plants, science and an "AGtivity."
Each year, more than 50 volunteers from the agricultural community provide the demonstrations and share their expertise with the students. Presentations are interactive, encouraging students to experience agriculture in a dynamic way.
Below, teachers Respond to the Question, “Do you believe that your students gained agricultural knowledge through the program?”
“Yes. So did I!”Cambria Grammar School
“Definitely! It was a great hands-on approach to learning about agriculture.” Pifer Elementary
“Yes. They loved it!” Del Mar Elementary
“Yes. They need direct contact with citizens in our own community to understand the importance of agriculture. Wise choices come from knowledge.” Ocean View Elementary
